Analysis of Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gases. Initial Studies, FY 1991

Description: The current objective of the project ``Analysis of Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gases`` is to develop a study of emissions and emission sources that could easily be linked to models of economic activity. Initial studies were conducted to evaluate data currently available linking activity rates and emissions estimates. The emissions inventory developed for the National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program (NAPAP) presents one of the most comprehensive data sets, and was chosen for our initial s… more

Effects of Coded-Wire Tagging on the Survival of Spring Chinook Salmon: Annual Report FY 1990-1991.

Description: The second study year encompassed similar activities to the first, with some modification. In terms of otolith marking, all spring chinook at each facility were marked by a series of scheduled incubation water depressions. Modifications to our work plan included a somewhat later initiation of otolith marking, a shortening of cold water exposure duration for Cowlitz fish at the alevin stage, and the use of on-station personnel for conducting actual water manipulations for otolith marking. Protoc… more

Energy Resources Performance Report, FY 1991 and FY 1992.

Description: Once the Federal Columbia River Power System provided all the power our customers needed and surplus energy, which we sold to others. However, we planned for the time when the surplus would disappear. With our customers, we developed centralized, region-wide conservation programs to conserve energy and build the knowledge and ability to save more energy when needed. We began to look at conservation as a resource, comparing it with supply-side alternatives. Much was accomplished. In Bonneville`s… more

FY 1991 project plan for the Hanford Environmental Dose Reconstruction Project, Phase 2

Description: Phase 1 of the Hanford Environmental Dose Reconstruction Project was designed to develop and demonstrate a method for estimating radiation doses people may have received from Hanford Site operations since 1944. The method researchers developed relied on a variety of measured and reconstructed data as input to a modular computer model that generates dose estimates and their uncertainties. As part of Phase 1, researchers used the reconstructed data and computer model to calculate preliminary dose… more

Yakima River Species Interactions Studies Annual Report: 1991

Description: The Yakima/Klickitat Fisheries Project (YKFP) proposes to assess the merits of ''supplementation'' as a means to increase natural production and harvest opportunities for anadromous fish in the Yakima and Klickitat subbasins. Supplementation involves rearing and release of artificially produced fish, which upon return as adults, would be managed to form a major component of the naturally spawning population.
